How Devil Brownies Were Discovered:
Devil Brownies, LLC. is a new company, established 2007, but the recipe for the brownies has been around for many years. It started one day when Clare decided that every brownie she ever tasted just wasn’t good enough. So into the kitchen she went and the Devil Brownies recipe was born.
This was a recipe that was shared among many of Clare’s friends, but about 10 years later it became a secret. Clare’s youngest son, Brian, came home one day from school and told her there was a baking contest the following day. They decided the brownies would be the perfect dessert to enter into the contest. Brian left that morning with 2 dozen brownies and when he came home that afternoon, all the brownies had been eaten. In fact, the judges were coming back for seconds after the contest had finished. He came running up the driveway with a beaming smile and a 1st place blue ribbon in hand. Brian told his mom how everyone loved the brownies and everyone was asking how they were made. From that point on, Clare and Brian decided that the recipe wouldn’t go outside of the family. Clare knew they were better than any brownie out there and that they were a hit!!!
After Maureen had her first baby in 2006 we decided now was the time to market this brownie that everyone wanted so badly; especially since family and friends wanted them as favors for weddings, showers and christenings. To this day, people still ask for the recipe and we just tell them it’s our little secret.
